James
is a most refined lyric Tenor Voice and has been an established singing teacher
at AML Golden Voice Studio since 2004. He is a qualified classroom instructor in
both Primary and Secondary (Private and Government) State School systems and holds
the BACHELOR OF ARTS & BACHELOR OF EDUCATION
degrees to his name. In his earlier years of study with Antonio, James became most fascinated
with the special artform of "Natural Vocal Production".
He has since committed himself wholeheartedly and devoutly to the same cause as Antonio in teaching and passing on to all (who welcome with open arms) the valuable knowledge he possesses of this natural approach to singing. He is a very easy going natured character with very convicted and strong ideas on this topic. His is a most docile but strong personality to work with (as is well known by his peers and colleagues) and is always altruistic in his eandeavours to make pupils feel as if they have understood all that is required.
Born in Auckland, New Zealand, James was exposed to a wide range of music from an early age. After moving to Melbourne as a boy James began learning clarinet, saxophone and guitar whilst also furnishing a strong passion for drama. As a teenager James commenced voice lessons and developed a love for all styles of singing. From 1999-2001 James studied acting at Peter Sardi’s school of Acting, and it was here that he met Antonio Maria Lancuba. Inspired by his first meeting with Antonio, James began studying singing with him exclusively.
Through immersing himself in his study with Antonio, James established a technical control and understanding of the voice that previous singing teachers had failed to develop. In 2002 James completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at Monash University, and in 2004, after obtaining a Bachelor of Teaching degree from Deakin University, James was invited to be the first Associate Teacher at the AML Golden Voice Studio.
Whilst teaching students the specific methods that have been taught to him by Antonio, James is continuing to train his own voice in preparation as an operatic tenor. James has sung with various singing groups such as Voci D’Oro and Alchemy. He has performed both locally and abroad as a most requested classical and popular soloist artist and is currently fulfilling professional engagements in the wide entertainment industry. James is also heavily involved in acting, he has performed on stage in many theatrical productions, has been in numerous television commercials, and has appeared in television programs such as Neighbours.
